We just wanted to let you know that a 21-year-old man from Southampton has been charged with stalking offences following a police investigation into incidents in the Portswood area of Southampton.
On Wednesday (15 May) we received a report from a woman in her 20s that a man unknown to her had been seen loitering around her flat and attempting to look through the windows on a number of occasions dating back to January of this year. It was reported that on May 15th the man had also been seen outside of the victim’s daughter’s school, prompting her to call police.
At the time this report was received, police were also investigating a report made by a 20-year-old woman that on several occasions in March and May, a man unknown to her had been seen outside her address, throwing things at her window and attempting to engage with her.
Pirouz Mofrad, of Highfield Lane, was arrested in connection with both reports on Wednesday evening and has now been charged with two counts of stalking involving serious alarm/distress. He has been remanded into custody and is due to appear at Southampton Magistrates’ Court today (Friday 17 May).
We urge anyone who has been the victim of stalking to contact police on 101, where you can speak to us in confidence. Always call 999 in the event of an emergency.
