She arrives during a thunderstorm and claims to be a ‘Princess’. The Prince’s mother tests this unexpected guest by placing a pea in her bed covered by 20 mattresses. “Only a real princess would have the sensitivity to feel a pea through such a quantity of expensive bedding”.
