A message from Dawn Bannatyne, Lead Ranger, SCC:, re fishing at the lake on Southampton Common!

If any one is interested in fishing at the lake on Southampton Common, it is the closed season 15 March – 15 June where no fishing is permitted – so fishing soon!

The ranger team cleared around the swims earlier this year before the season started. However, with the warm and wet weather, growth this year is prolific everywhere. We have been working on clearing the swims and such yesterday, and rangers are back out there clearing the remaining swims in preparation for the open season. More work will likely be required next week to cut vegetation further from the shore.

The swims will be usable, if not perfect, from the 15th June.
