In a proactive effort to ensure our community’s safety, our officers from Portswood’s Neighbourhood Policing Team recently took possession of a machete.

This article will be safely destroyed, eliminating any potential threat it posed.

We greatly appreciate the ongoing support and vigilance of our community members. Together, we can continue to make Southampton a safer place for everyone.

Two residences in Southampton connected to drugs supply have been closed following collaborative efforts by partners in the City.

It follows extensive police enquiries at the addresses in Lawn Road in the Portswood area following repeated reports from members of the public concerning drug-supply and drug-use issues.

Yesterday evening (Tuesday 16 July), Magistrates in Southampton granted three-month Full Closure Orders to the addresses, following an application by Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary.
In connection to the persistent issues and reported drug-supply activities at the properties on Lawn Road, police teams carried out a proactive warrant at an address in Shakespeare Avenue on Monday evening (15 July) – with a view to seizing drugs and arrest suspects involved in drug use and supply.
A search of the property was completed and uncovered a quantity of suspected Class A drugs, a quantity of cash along with our drug-related paraphernalia; all of which has now been seized as part of evidence gathering. A number of mobile devices were also seized as part of the warrant.
Two men – aged 47 and 35 – both from Southampton were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs.
While two further men – aged 37 and 65 – also from Southampton, were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.
They have all since been release on conditional bail, pending further police enquiries.
The closure order is a step forward for the community to ensure that individuals who are persistently involved in this type of activity cannot return to the address.
Magistrates found the closure order to be necessary to prevent the continuation of disorder and criminal offences at the address, and serious nuisance to members of the public.
