If you’re fairly confident on your bike and ready to broaden your cycling horizons, our Steady rides are ideal. At a comfortable pace, and possibly with some modest hills along the way, rides take place on mainly quiet roads with plenty of sights along the way. Rides are between 6 and 20 miles long, at a moderate pace of between 7 and 10 miles an hour.

Join us on this six and a half mile steady family ride centred on Southampton Common and discovering routes through Highfield and Portswood. This route has something to interest the whole family – the Common boasts the Hawthorns Nature Study Centre & cafe (which many years ago used to be a zoo), the children’s playground, cycle centre training track where you can return to practice your road skills, ornamental lake & Boat Lake, and the cattle pound. All of these can be enjoyed before the ride takes you on a combination of traffic-free paths and quiet roads past the University of Southampton, (one of the top performing universities in the country) to Portswood where the kids are sure to enjoy the playground.
