Posted by Highfield Residents' Association on Jun 2, 2024 in News | 0 commentsThere are some deadlines coming up for those who have not yet registered to vote, or wish to apply for a postal or proxy vote, or need to apply for voter ID, or wish to know more about this.
The information below is courtesy of SCC’s City News, 31/05/24:
There are a number of ways you can have your say – you can vote at a polling station, by post or by appointing someone you trust to vote on your behalf, which is known as a proxy vote.
The deadline to apply for a postal vote is 5pm on Wednesday 19 June, while the deadline to apply for a proxy vote and or to apply for a free voter ID is 5pm on Wednesday 26 June.
Following the introduction of new rules last year, you will need to show photo ID when voting at a polling station. Another important change is that British and eligible Irish citizens living overseas can now register to vote in the UK at General Elections.
