Monday 27 May – Bank Holiday

Veg out Café @ October Books:    October Books, Portswood High Street, SO17 2NF, from 12-3pm for Vegan food, pay as you please.

Bereavement Café:  Make & Brew Café, St James Road, SO15 5HE, from 2-4pm. Offering support and chat to anyone recently bereaved, confirmed as going ahead!

Mayfield Nursery – Walking Group:  Mayfield Nursery, Weston Lane, Weston SO19 9HL, from 10am at Mayfield Nurseries Entrance. Feel the benefit of the outdoors and connecting with nature in a supportive environment.

Mayfield Nursery – Gardening for Dementia:  Mayfield Nursery, Weston Lane, Weston SO19 9HL, from 1-3pm. Where we will be working at Mayfield nurseries ‘hands on’ with plants. Feel the benefit of the outdoors and connecting with nature in a supportive environment.

Tuesday 28 May
Music for the Mind – Vocal & Instrumental:  Planet Sounds (opposite the Co-op), 40 Terminus Terrace, SO14 3FE from 1.30-3pm. Music Leaders are Katy Hooper and Hayley McDonnell will explore mindfulness, meditation techniques through singing inspired by sounds and rhythms from around the world. SoCo Music Project presents a free fun and social Music-Making Session for all abilities.  Places are limited for more details, please email mark@socomusicproject.org.uk.

 

Sport in Mind – Yoga:  Big Activity Room, St Marys Leisure Centre, 118A St Marys Road, SO14 0BL, from 2-2.50 with Michelle.

Musical Moments:  Snowdrop Place Pavilion Road, Hedge End, Hampshire, SO30 2ZS, drop-in from 2-3.30pm.  An afternoon for family, friends, carers and those living with dementia where you can enjoy a safe, relaxed afternoon with an emphasis on using music to enjoy and an opportunity to ask questions and share concerns with others.

Inclusive Cinema at the Point – Wonka: The Atrium, The Point, Leigh Road Eastleigh, SO50 9DE, at 10.45.

  • These inclusive screenings are designed to create a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere open to all who’d like to join us. Lighting is a little higher, the sound a little quieter and you can leave the theatre safely at any point with staff on hand to help you.
  • All our inclusive film screenings will be subtitled | Fully accessible for wheelchair users | Free Personal Carer Ticket
  • Ticket prices include a hot drink and biscuit during the 20-minute interval. Duration: 1 hour 57 minutes, Cost: £5.  Please book here
Wednesday 29 May
Wednesdays @ Holy Saviour Bitterne:  Holy Saviour Church, Bursledon Road, SO19 7LW.

  • Omega Café:  Drop in anytime from 10 until 12. Free tea, coffee, cake, and chat.
  • Armchair exercise:  Starts at 10am for about 25 minutes. Led by a qualified instructor; light exercise whilst still sitting! Donations welcome.
  • Omega Lunch: At Midday. Normally soup & roll but on the 2nd Wednesday of the month something a bit more like a soup, ploughman’s or jacket potato. Donations welcome.

Meeting Place @ October Books:  October Books, Portswood High Street, SO17 2NF, between 2.30pm to 4.30pm.  This is an intergenerational community drop in event, with painting, puzzles, board games and cream tea!

Thursday Cuppa:  St Mary’s Church, Sholing, SO19 8ES, from 10-11.30am.

Coffee, Cake & Connect:  Lordshill Church, Lordshill District Centre, SO16 8HY.. Drop in from 1.30-3pm.

Friday 31 May
Southampton Manor Memory Café:  Southampton Manor Care Home, 111 Burgess Road, Bassett, SO16 7AG, from 10.30am – 12 noon.  A welcoming, supportive and inclusive space for individuals with dementia and their caregivers to connect with others and foster a sense of belonging and reduce feelings of isolation in a safe and friendly environment.

Coffee and Cake:  St Denys Church, Dundee Road, St Denys, SO17 2ND, from 1.30-3pm.

Eastleigh Support and Social Drop In:  The Atrium, The Point, Leigh Road Eastleigh, SO50 9DE, from 12.30 – 3.30pm.  This social drop in meet is for anyone that has been diagnosed with dementia or are worried about memory loss. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be served while activities might include arts & crafts, reminiscence, cognitive stimulation games, quizzes, and conversation. Some weeks there are discussions led by guest speakers on topics about health / social care, finance / benefits, wellbeing & coping strategies.

The Haven Lunch Club:  St Mark’s Church, Archers Road, SO15 2LU, from 11am – 2.30pm.

MHA Singing for Wellbeing @ Hebron Court:  Hebron Court, 46 Rollesbrook Gardens, Southampton SO15 5WB, from 11am – 12.

Fish and Chip Friday @ Mayflower Court:  62-70 Westwood Road, Southampton, SO17 1DP.  Join us for Homemade Fish and Chips lunchtime for elderly members of the community who would otherwise be eating on their own from 12pm.  Spaces are limited so booking is essential, please book by Wednesday lunchtime.  To reserve your place or for more information please call Mayflower Court on 02380 670200.

Saturday 01 / Sunday 02 June
Southampton Park Walk:  Meet @ the Hawthorns Café, SO15 7NN.  Meeting at the café on Southampton Common at 9am.  The meet point is by the start of park run between 2 oak trees close to hawthorns but not outside it, look for the steward in high vis jackets labelled “Park Walker”.  All Welcome! For a gentle 5km walk around the Common, many go to Hawthorns Café for a coffee and chat after.
